Jil’s passion for art ignited in her childhood, but it wasn’t until adulthood that she fully embraced it. Exploring diverse mediums and themes, including the dark and macabre, Jil eventually found her artistic niche. While she still harbors a fascination for horror and the paranormal, she discovered her true joy lies in the vibrant hues, adorable characters, and whimsical imagery that adorn her canvases. Jil’s journey as a professional artist began unexpectedly amidst the tumult of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. However, it wasn’t until the late stages of 2023, when her disability rendered her unable to pursue traditional work, that she fully embraced the life of an artist.

Squish is a thirty-something artist, residing in rural Nova Scotia, Canada, surrounded by the serene company of grazing cattle. Alongside her partner and four feline companions, who serve as both her ardent supporters and muses, she finds solace and inspiration in the act of painting. Enduring the challenges of chronic illness, neurodivergence, and disability, Jil retreats into her art studio, crafting a sanctuary within her vibrant creations to momentarily escape the grasp of her symptoms.
When not immersed in her latest painting, she can be found engrossed in the pages of a book, exploring the backroads and rural landscapes of her province, indulging in the thrill of ghost hunting, or revisiting beloved episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000, a timeless favorite.
